It&#8217;s actually Phoenix police Detective Bobby Palma from a December 31, 1994 article in the Arizona Republic watching as Laura showed him how she put the cases from the department&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/19970605202022\/http:\/\/www.getnet.com\/silent\/phx_police.html\">Silent Witness<\/a> program online.<\/p>\r\n<figure id=\"attachment_9903\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9903\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-9903 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/protovate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/2022-06-02_17-38-26-e1654220631402.png\" alt=\"Phoenix Police Department Website c.1996\" width=\"500\" height=\"277\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9903\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Phoenix Police Website developed by Laura Giacoppo of Protovate in 1994<\/figcaption><\/figure>\r\n<p>Silent Witness was shown during the NBC affiliate news weekly. It featured unsolved missing person cases and crimes and asked the public to phone in tips for the possibility of getting a reward.<\/p>\r\n<p>The site became the cornerstone of the Phoenix Police Department&#8217;s website, one of the first law enforcement agencies in the world online in the earliest Internet days to have a web presence.<\/p>\r\n<figure id=\"attachment_9931\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9931\" style=\"width: 504px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-9931 \" src=\"https:\/\/protovate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/2022-06-02_17-47-03-1.png\" alt=\"Unsolved Mysteries 1995 Website\" width=\"504\" height=\"260\" srcset=\"https:\/\/protovate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/2022-06-02_17-47-03-1.png 553w, https:\/\/protovate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/2022-06-02_17-47-03-1-300x155.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 504px) 100vw, 504px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9931\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Unsolved Mysteries website \u2013 1995 \u2013 Gradient! Ohhh, so cutting edge.<span style=\"font-family: inherit; font-size: revert;\">The Silent Witness site was big news for the times and police departments around the world asked Laura to help get their version of Silent Witness online.<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\r\n<p>And then an unimaginable thing happened. The producer of the hit TV show<em> Unsolved Mysteries<\/em> called and wanted a website! 1995. Amazing.
